ANNOUNCING THE BOARD MEMBERS OF THE MUSE NO. 51.

The Muse is a journal of critical and creative writing, an annual publication of the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. It is the oldest surviving students’ journal in West Africa, founded by Chinua Achebe in 1963.

The Muse is delighted to announce the emergence of its editorial board members for the forthcoming 51st edition of its annual publication.

As is the norm, the board comprises current students of the department, ranging from second to final year. After a careful scrutiny, the following have been chosen to front the excellent literary tradition of The Muse Journal:

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Uchenna Edwin Eze is a playwright and screenwriter with screen credit for ROK Studios. He is an alumnus of the SprinNG fellowship, and has served as associate drama editor for The Muse Journal, No. 50. His writings cut across genres, with poems, short fiction, and review pieces published or forthcoming in Fiction Niche, Afreecanread, The Muse Journal, SprinNG and elsewhere. Away from writing, he fuels his creativity as a part-time tailor. He X’s @edwinucee.  

ASSISTANT EDITOR

Mhembeuter Jeremiah Orhemba is the first runner-up for the 2021 Kreative Diadem Flash Fiction Contest and a top 15 of the 2022 ALITFEST short story prize. His works have appeared or are forthcoming in Lolwe, PRIDE: An Anthology of Diverse Speculative Fiction, The Shallow Tales Review, The Muse Journal, and elsewhere. In 2021, he was an artist-in-residence at ARTmosterrific. This year, he served as an Associate Prose Editor for The Muse Journal, No. 50. Catch him on X(Twitter) @ son_of_faya. ASSOCIATE POETRY EDITOR I 

Liminal-placed and uncouthly lonesome, A. D. Xavier is a lover of poetry, slow sad music, and beautiful faces. 

ASSOCIATE POETRY EDITOR II

Ifem F. C. Adanna is a student of English and Literary Studies at, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She hails from Anambra state, Idemili south L. G. A. She is an avid reader and also a writer. Her most enjoyable genre is poetry, and her perception of this genre is that “poetry is the sun’s reflection on troubled waters.” 

ASSOCIATE PROSE EDITOR I 

Okorie Divine is a short fiction writer, reviewer, and undergraduate student in Nigeria. His short stories and book reviews can be found in; Brittle Paper, Afreecan Read, Kalahari Review, Writer’s Space Africa, African Writers Magazine, Fiery Scribe Review, and elsewhere. He works as the Assistant Prose Editor at Fiery Scribe Review, and served as Associate Prose Editor ll for The Muse Journal, No 50. ASSOCIATE PROSE EDITOR II

 

James-Ibe Chinaza is a writer. Her short stories can be found in Brittle Paper, Kalahari Review, Agbowo Magazine, Readers Boon, Fiery Scribe Review, and elsewhere. She is undefined. ASSOCIATE DRAMA EDITOR

ASSOCIATE CRITICAL EDITOR 

Enukaorah, Nchekwube is a critic, reviewer, and budding poet. He is a final-year student of English and Literary Studies, University of  Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a freelancer at Upwork; enjoys romance novels and inspirational books; and believes in the inextinguishable essence of humanity through art. SECRETARY 

Adisionu Chisom Maryqueen mingles with anything sublime. She is a critic and loves the language of literature. Out of the world of literature, she involves herself in administration and team management. She peeps into the minds of people as a place where the form of the universe is realized. PUBLICITY SECRETARY

Onyishi Chukwuebuka Freedom is a final-year student of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a writer with an incredible passion for music. When he is not writing, he can be found in his rainbow space, trying to turn his poems and titles into songs. He believes that music and writing are the two bridges that link him to the moon and can be used to impact his universe.  

BLOG EDITOR

Ikechukwu C. Rejoice is a student of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She is a freelancer and data transcriptor on platforms such as; UpWork, Fiverr, and RemoteHub. She—is a poet who still straddles other forms of writing—loves God and all things Christ-like. She believes in the beauty of art, and the expression thereof in all human endeavors.
