Unaegbu, Jeff is a prolific writer, seasoned editor and trained Mass Communicator, He has authored 20 books, published numerous articles and produced twenty video documentaries. His 512-paged Freedom in Our Bones, first-ever 44-year history of the Students’ Union Government of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was second runner-up in the NUC-organized NURESDEF Arts/ Humanities (Research category) in year 2008 and the only existing book-size history of students unionism in Nigeria. His Ode on Lagos, adjudged the longest published poem by a Nigerian in a Newswatch magazine book review of April 2007, was published in his third-year as an undergraduate in 2005. The book was second runner-up in the ANA/ Cadbury $2000 Prize (year 2011) and first runner-up in the NUC-organized NURESDEF Arts/ Humanities (Research category) in year 2012. His Origins of the NYSC is the first ever full history of the National Scheme, partly written during his service year in 2007.
