send a photograph to God –

we are running into the morning

& all I’m thinking of is the number of times an average human breathes

one      two      three    four….

the bullets whiz past our backs

bodies drop

knives lodged in guts

the Nile pukes & there are bodies everywhere

it doesn’t matter

how it all ends

yes

how it all ends

                                                            it doesn’t matter

the Nile pukes & there are bodies everywhere

knives lodged in guts

bodies drop

the bullets whiz past our backs

one      two      three    four….

& all I’m thinking of is the number of times an average human breathes

we are running into the morning
